One of my coworkers is using a HP Officejet Pro 8600. I've fixed the verticle lines on his B&W copies by following the instructions found here. Then in about 2 or 3 months, the problem comes back. Unplugging it to reset the surge protector fixes the issue again. This is currently the 3rd time I've had to do this.
With the problem re-occuring, this is more of a workaround than a fix. I have two 8600 series printers this is happening to in separate remote locations. Both printers are plugged directly into a wall socket. Can anyone shed some light to what might be causing this?
Will these line only occur if the printer receives a surge in power?
If the build has a surge protector in its wiring, would that cause conflicts like a power strip would? How would I handle that?
