HP DeskJet 3512 reset claim code

we purchased an HP Certified Refurbished HP DeskJet 3512 and are now trying to enter the Claim Code of 98ijy34ashu.  The failure message says that this claim code is already assigned; however, we have never done this or used this code.  The failure message says that we must first unclaim the device that this code was assigned to so that we can then use this code BUT since we do not have another device assigned to this claim code and never did this, we cannot do so.  Please HELP us to have a new claim code for our new HP Printer.
