I installed a new photosmart 5520 on Sunday and man it was cool. Worked like a dream using ePrint and Google's cloud print server. I bought it to support a Samsung Google Chromebook that needs a cloud ready printer. Yesterday morning the print jobs started getting stuck in the print queue and not coming through. The hpeprint site showd the printer as "offline" yet it clearly was on the internet as shown by various reports I could print. So... assumed the best action was to delete the printer out of HP's site and re-register it again.
After removing the printer, I needed to generate a new confirmation code to add the printer back again... followed the instructions to the letter, pushing the ePrint button to generate a new code to enter... nothing but error messages.
A phone call last night to the HP eprint help desk was immediately answered by a live person who said the HP eprint servers had been up and down all day... and were off line. Until they were online again, my printer won't talk to them... and no code could be sent.
Almost a day later I'm still not able to connect to the HP eprint servers. Nothing in the news about any hacks on HP. Nothing on this HP website or forum either about any major global eprint server outage. Odd.
Anyone else having a problem here? Are HP's servers still down? What can be done to re-establish the connection between my printer and the servers - pressing that darn eprint button only generates a spinning wheel, followed by a connection error -1 message.
